Changed lives in 2017

Dear Friend,

When a mother overcomes an addiction and returns to her family, our neighborhoods become stronger. When a once-homeless man learns the skills to secure a stable job and contribute his talent and potential, our city becomes a better home for all of us. Because of you, Haven of Rest graduates and current clients have experienced true life-change, and spent Christmas with their family for the first time in years.

This year the dedication of friends like you allowed Haven of Rest to continue offering
Biblical help and hope to men and women seeking assistance to overcome their life-dominating problems and become stable and independent members of our community. I’m so grateful for your partnership!

Over this past year, many lives have been touched. Because of partners like you, men and women at The Haven now have access to exercise equipment at our men and women’s program locations – so they can continue to become healthy in all areas of their lives – spiritually, socially, emotionally, and now physically as well. Because of the many donors who have been faithful this year, each of our locations - Men’s Rescue Mission, Men’s Training Center, both Women’s Ministry locations, and all thrift locations - now have security cameras to ensure safety of each location. We are also grateful for the ability to replace the roof on our food pantry out at the MTC where we store food donations that come in each month.

Faithful and generous giving also provided the foundation for our New Life Discipleship Program where once hopeless men and women—many of whom also battled addiction — received the Biblical guidance, training, and resources to rebuild stables lives.

These are just a few of the blessings we experienced through the year, enabling us to offer our critical and comprehensive outreach. In all, we expect to serve more than 80,000 meals, provide nearly 29,000 nights of safe shelter, and impact hundreds of individuals through our life-transforming programs in 2017. And in the coming year, we will continue to rely on the compassion of kind people like you to meet the growing needs of Anderson County and beyond.

Year-end giving is critical not only to allow the Ministry to finish the year strong for those who are weak, but also to prepare for a new year of lives infused with hope and new beginnings. The same God who has given so graciously to us deeply desires to provide, comfort, and tangibly display his love to those in our community who have nothing. Many of our friends catch up with their charitable giving in December, taking advantage of the tax benefits while also sharing the year’s bounty with those who have little or nothing at all. I ask you to thoughtfully consider how you might once again demonstrate your kindness and compassion for families and individuals who need a hand up.

Thank you again for helping Haven of Rest strengthen our community one life at a time as we seek to restore broken lives.

Serving together,
